Suki Lopez - Acting Career & Credits

Ask most families where they know Suki Lopez from and the answer comes quickly: she is Nina, the warm, bilingual neighbor who has been part of Sesame Street since its 46th season. Ten seasons on, the role still fits. Born Susana Maria Lopez in Miami on October 8, 1990, she is Cuban-American, a dancer by training, and a graphic designer when the cameras stop.

Performing started early. Before she was old enough to think of it as a career, she was working in Spanish-language spots for Chevy and Sony. Ballet came at three — her mother enrolled her at Maria Verdeja, the Miami arts school she would one day help run — and the discipline stuck; years of it shaped how she moves on stage today. New York followed — musical theatre training at CAP21, then a science degree from The New School, all of it built on a Miami childhood and her years at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy.

Her stage work runs deep. She toured the country as Consuela in West Side Story, covering Anita, and spent seasons at sea with Disney Cruise Line playing Nicole and Belle while standing by for Jasmine. On screen, beyond Sesame Street, she has turned up in Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas and opposite the cast of Bravo's Odd Mom Out, with staged readings, commercials and voice work filling the gaps between.

These days a good deal of her attention goes to the next generation. She returned to Maria Verdeja as its artistic director, coaching young Miami performers, and in 2023 watched those students dance down Sixth Avenue at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She is raising two children, keeps designing, and splits her time between Miami and New York.
